Spring Newsletter

Spring has arrived in Maine! The sun strengthens and the ground warms, birds are happy and busy at the feeder. Glad to see the snow and ice leave.

Just a couple things to touch on in this news letter. Please keep a eye out for Sylvia’s spearate post on using Energy Healing with animals. You’ll want to read the testimonial she shares.

Scheduling for Spring and Summer

Online Scheduling has been a great success. Our clients love they can find the time and day they want, and be able to reschedule if necessary, all at their convenience. It’s super easy and quick.

As the season picks up it may become more difficult to find a late afternoon opening in the coming week. Currently some weeks are full while others have several openings. If after work is the only time that works for you it’s best to plan ahead. Or even better, set up a regular schedule so you can count on it when needed. Plus having a regular scheduled massage helps keep you on track and lessens the tension buildup that may be harder to resolve with one session.

Use the scheduling button at the bottom of the page. Save the ling to your phone for reminders or future appointments.

Paraffin Hand Treatments

Sore achey hands from gardening, keyboarding, or arthritis? A paraffin hand treatment may be just the answer to complement your massage. Your hands will thank you.

Now available as a add-on when you schedule your massage appointment.

Special member perc; 1- free paraffin hand treatment. Use as a nice add on during your birthday month? Simply choose as a add-on when you schedule, and be sure to let me know this is your membership gift.

COVID-19 Policy Update

Thankfully Maine, and elsewhere, are seeing COVID-19 infections dropping significantly. Our area is now listed in the low risk category.

I will no longer require a pre-massage COVID check in for existing clients. I still encourage wearing a mask however I will no longer require this if it presents a difficulty for you. I will continue to wear a mask for now, and will always be happy to do so if requested in the future.

We’ve come a long way and have been thru much with this pandemic. When we first reopened after the shutdown in 2020, massage therapist were putting out instruction videos suggesting removing all items that were not disinfectable, including curtains, rugs, and art. It was suggested we mop the floors and wash the walls inbetween each client. I personally invested in over $10k for safety equipment and supplies. Thats a lot of massages to cover. In the end however we wound up with a more suitable and functional office space and a greater appreciaton for being able to continue our work. We have a lot of gratitude that no one got sick with COVID, our family remained safe, and unlike many massage therapist I am still in practice.

Now comes the time to heal from all the stress and anxiety. We are grateful to have the tools and skills to offer.

Our E-Gift Cards are a big hit. This is a easy way to send a special gift of relaxation or therapeutic massage to someone you care about. Gift cards can be use for all kinds of special occasions, to celebrate an achievement, or just to let someone know that you care. Safe, compassionate touch can do wonders.

Gift card are also available for Allergy Antidotes ™ , Ask & Receive ™, Reiki for people and pets.

Click on the E-Gift Cards button. Select the card you like, select the amount you wish to put on that card, and it sends to your person of choice. That simple!

New Year 2022 Tree of Life Center Newsletter

New Year 2022 Newsletter Update

A new year, a new opportunity to reflect on what worked and what did not work for us last year, and opportunity to choose again differently for that we wish to bring forth. Of course we can always choose again at any time, but the first of the year seems to be a fitting place to start.

For me, 2021, more than any other period of time, really showed just how complex we humans are, and how resiliant we can be. But in terms of health, this past year made even more obvious how all encompassing we are in body, mind, and spirit. The effects on physical health from prolonged stress, isolation, and disruption to our normal way of living, could not be overlooked. It is thru this awareness we find our way back to health and happiness. Mental health professionals are working way past capacity as these stessors drag on. Secondary medial conditions are up thru all age groups. Now, more than ever, we need a truly functional approach that integrates allopathic medicine with complementary wellness professions that have served humanity very well for centuries. A system that integrates body, mind, and spirit, while honoring the long standing Hippocratic principle of “first do no harm”. We need to embrace modern science along with long proven holistic therapies, not in competetion, but in concert, for the best and highest good of our clients and patients.

At the Tree of Life Center for Wellbeing we are constantly building on these principles. We experience the incredible strength and wisdom of the body, mind, and spirit, with our clients as they call on their inherant capacity to heal and rise above their challenges. We grow with them as we are so honored to be apart of their process.

TLC COVID19 Policy Update 12.26.20

Now that the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays are behind us its important to take stock of where we are at in terms of the pandemic and what that means for access to massage services at our office.

First lets look at the current infection rates in Maine. Although Maine continues to have some of the lowest infection rates of the nation, we find ourselves currently at the highest level yet during the pandemic. It is estimated we will continue to see rising infection rates in our state for at least the short term. These are being driven mostly from community spread directly related to small groups and especially after the beginning of the holiday season. It took about three weeks for the impact of Thanksgiving gatherings to become apparent, and we can expect another jump from the Christmas holiday. Our County, Lincoln County, has the highest number yet of active infections. Unlike this past summer, the impact of COVID is closer to home and more a reality for many in our area.

The good news is the advent of new vaccines and therapeutics. Spring is not that far away though it may seem so. I remain hopeful that spring will bring a significant improvement on many levels. So its critically important we all remain vigilant with our safety measures and precautions. Also good news, there have not been any reported transmissions from massage services anywhere in Maine that I am aware of. This is in no small part due to the diligence on the part of massage therapist and practices throughout Maine.

Even though we have a significantly higher level of infections in Maine than we did in March when most non-essential businesses were forced to close, Maine now is doing everything possible to understand the current risk , stay on top of up to date science of the virus and its spread, and take a more selective approach to restrictions and the dire consequences businesses and the economy are facing because of it.

I am taking a similar approach at Tree of Life Center. In lieu of a complete close down which leaves many who need and rely on regular massage therapy who do not pose a risk of infection without it, I am making the effort to understand and respond to potential risk and remain available to as many of my clients as possible. As you may imagine, some determinations are more straight forward than others. This is a ever evolving effort and as such I will be reporting on changes and modifications as they occur.

As I have said in earlier post, what makes this virus so potentially transmittable is the fact that a individual without any symptoms may be infectious and because many of the typical symptoms of a COVID infection are similar to symptoms many people commonly experience anyway such at allergies and stomach disorders initially. Newer science has narrowed the field quite a bit which is helpful. Knowing a person is usually not infectious until about two days before symptoms appear and that a 10 day isolation is sufficient to the previous 14 day isolation requirements. We also now have a better understanding of how transmission is likely to occur with less concern about surfaces (though still important) and more importance placed on aromatic transmission.

For most people having COVID the symptoms are not serious and more like a common flu. But for others, even those without any significant symptoms, chronic health issues persist. And for a smaller group, the virus is deadly. Thus the best approach is one of prevention.

Because of the holidays and being indoors due to winter we are currently in the potentially highest risk time for the virus. As such, I am modifying my existing policies to further minimize the risk of infection for myself and family, for my clients, and for contributing to community spread. I know this will make it even more difficult for some of my clients already experiencing restrictive measures, I am truly sorry, but please bear with me, and know this will change for the better, and will not always be this way. We will get thru this, hopefully sooner than later.

Risk factor considerations for massage appointments.

Keep in mind, its not just the individual, its also everyone else living in the same household that has to be considered.

In all groups, I have to consider any group activities that could involve close contact or removing mask. This includes restaurants, clubs and bars, and church or social gatherings. (close contact is defined as less than 6′ apart for more than a total accumulated time of 15 minutes). Any visitors from outside the immediate household (even if its family). Any person traveling outside our immediate area, using commercial transportation, staying at hotels or with friends / family elsewhere. Doctors and nurses are considered on a individual basis. There is a significant difference between the risk of the operating room vs the emergency room. Nurses and attendants working in nursing homes are at a higher risk but because of proactive routine testing and safety protocols they are screened on a individual basis. Even within these groups each client is screened each time before their appointments. If there is any potential safety concerns we may simply set the appointment out far enough for the concern to be satisfied.

Now that vaccines are becoming available I am being asked if its ok to have massage right after getting vaccinated, if its ok not to wear a mask now they are vaccinated, and if they can still carry the virus. First, there is still much to be known about the new vaccines and what this means in terms of the questions above. The vaccines do not contain a live virus. The symptoms a person feels after a vaccination is that of their immune system kicking into action. Common symptoms such as soreness to the injected area, fever, fatigue, etc, all indicate the body is dealing with this. I believe its best to rest and support your body. A light massage for stress may be ok, whereas a intense deep tissue massage may put more stress on your system. Therefore i would assume its best to schedule your massage at least several days after each of the two vaccines. Even after your vaccinations it may still be possible to carry the virus if exposed and thus expose others. So it remains important to continue practicing CDC recommendations as before.

Testing is also becoming much easier and more accessible. Most insurance is covering the cost of testing. So far I am aware of three basic test available in our area.

  1. PCR test. If you have a prescription from your doctor the test results are usually back the next day and is covered by insurance. If you choose to get it on your own it cost over a hundred dollars and takes a couple days to receive results. These are available at Lincoln Health and Walgreens. These are the most accurate test.
  2. Rapid test. There are many new versions coming out, but I am aware of the Abbot test available at Walgreens. It may be covered by insurance but only cost $45. otherwise. You set up your appointment thru and go thru the drive thru where they pass out the kit to you and you do the nasal swab on yourself. Results are back within 2-12 hrs. The rapid test does not pick up as fine a particle as the PCR test, but is said to be very accurate within the range a person is most likely infectious. (a current negative result is sufficient for your massage appointment providing no potential risk have occurred since the test was performed)

If you are concerned about a possible exposure or symptoms you are having its best to contact your doctor. Testing too soon will likely provide a negative result even though you may have the virus. I believe it takes about five days before the test can detect the virus.

For clients working in settings providing routine testing I recommend making your appointments for after your results come back and during a time when no questionable activity or possible exposure may occur.

Because of the amount of time necessary for my CDC compliance measures at the office I will continue to only see two clients a day at the most. However, in practice, most days I am typically only seeing one client or even none at all. Safety for everyone remains my top concern and focus. This puts extreme challenges on keeping the office open and viable. We appreciate your ongoing support and understanding. We will get thru this and hopefully be all the stronger because of it.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.

Helping You During COVID19

Needless to say, these are trying times. It’s a challenge not to be stressed and anxious with the multitude of concerns the COVID19 virus has brought. As holistic healers its difficult for Sylvia & I not to be available for you in our office at a time we are needed the most. So, we are working on ways to help you in the meanwhile. With nearly 20 years of study in the fields of therapeutic nutrition, homeopathy, energy medicine, and therapeutic exercise, combined with today’s technology with video conferencing, we have the ability to reach out and hopefully make a difference. Some of the things we are planning will be free or by donation. Other times, such as one on one virtual sessions or group classes, will be priced affordably. This helps you, and helps us keep our business viable during this time, so we will be there again, when you need us, when this pandemic passes.

Here is some of the things we have in mind (and certainly open to suggestions).

ZOOM group (or private) Ask & Receive™ (energy psychology).

This pandemic is rattling us all on a primordial level. Our survival instincts are on high alert. This is good in the sense it keeps us mindful to do the things we need to do to remain as safe as possible. On the down side the extended duration, day in and day out, of the fight/flight response is that it weakens our immune system, the opposite of what we need at this time.

Some of you already know about the energy physiology techniques that Sylvia and I have been learning over the past year. This is a excellent tool to support a healthy stress response so that we are not internalizing a negative immune or physiological response.

We intend to meet on ZOOM (time and day to be determined) and help guide you thru a short series of energy clearings that may help you offset the palpable fear and anxiety that surrounds us with COVID19 and being apart from friends and family. Ask & Receive™ is intended to support your  mind and body with positive reinforcement of its natural healing and balancing so to help you be stronger and more resilient to this virus. This would take about 15-30 minutes and is something you could continue to use again anytime with yourself and others as needed.

Other Ask & Receive™ teleclearings we would like to do could include stress reduction, tight neck and shoulder release, or any number of issues based on what you need at the time.

Online Homeopathy Study Group

Our Intro To Homeopathy Study Group, based on the workbook from Joette Calabrese, have been well received each of the times we’ve hosted these. This is something we would like to resume via ZOOM conferencing (time and day yet to be chosen).

Homeopathy is a method of natural medicine that has been in use around the world for over the past 200 years. During epidemics homeopathy has out performed any other modality as shown in historical data. Homeopathy is used for everything from the common cold to major disease epidemics, from scrapes and bruises to major injury, surgery, chronic pain, and chronic health conditions. The medicines are extremely affordable, accessible, and easy to use.

At the turn of the 20th century, the United States had hundreds of homeopathic hospitals, teaching universities, and thousands of practicing homeopathaic  MD’s. The advent of modern medicine along with a discrediting propaganda from the pharmaceutical industry as well as the American Medical Association  (in affiliation with the pharmaceutical industry), pushed homeopathy aside and essentially labeled it witchcraft. Homeopathic practicing MD’s, afraid of loosing their license controlled by the AMA, they dropped homeopathic practice in favor of synthetic medicines.

In this current COVID19 crisis we can see the enormous problem with a pandemic virus when it’ll take a year to develop a working vaccine or suitable antiviral drugs. By the time this happens the virus will have mutated sufficiently as not to be affected by any new vaccine. There are currently an estimated 8 strains of the COVID virus circulating, each having various levels of severity with the public. It is important to know the antibodies induced by a vaccine only work if the exposure is a exact match. If there is a mutation to the virus the antibodies won’t be effective.

Homeopathy offers two historically effective methods for supporting the body in the face of such a virus. One way, homeoprophylaxis, may be somewhat similar to a vaccine. A homeopathic nosode (a homeopathic medicine made from the virus) given as a prophylactic has been shown to result in antibodies similar to a vaccine. The second method, and more commonly used, is using common homeopathic remedies based on symptoms thus using remedies that have a history of effectiveness in helping the various symptoms as they develop. The major difference between homeopathy and conventional medicine is that conventional medicine works by suppressing symptoms (makes you feel better) but does nothing to actually bring about a cure. Whereas homeopathic medicines stimulate the bodys innate healing capacity to bring about a complete resolution. So the goal here is as soon as symptoms begin to define themselves, a properly chosen homeopathic remedy will help resolve the issue, or at least shorten the intensity and duration, thus minimizing the chance of the illness moving to the next deeper level, or reducing the intensity or duration should it do so.

People don’t die from the COVID19 virus, they die from the complications arising from it. By supporting your bodys innate healing defenses with homeopathy, herbal medicine, targeted nutritional support, reducing stress and anxiety, and appropriate lifestyle accommodations, we stand a much better chance that if infected, we can keep the virus from progressing to the deeper and more lethal stages.

I want to help make this simple for you. The key thing to know is, when you have the correct remedy for a given situation, the results can be significant. Once you experience this, especially for something longstanding that no other medicine or modality has been able to address, you will have no doubt about its potential. This has been my experience over and over, and what I have read time and time again from case studies I’ve read and experienced. For someone to say homeopathy does not work, they in all due respect, don’t know what they are talking about. Joette Calibrese, who we’ve studied with and use her study guide, is a classically trained homeopath who almost gave up her practice due to the difficulty in effectively using classical homeopathy. That was until she met a group of 4th generation homeopathic MD’s in India who taught her a new way of seeing homeopathy thru their outcome based clinical homeopathy they had developed from seeing over a 1000, yes thats right 1000, patients a day in their medical clinic. Joette has brought this information back and developed a more simplified, understandable, and organized method of using homeopathy for both acute and chronic health support.

Our study groups are a simple and affordable way to learn the history and foundation of homeopathy, along with practical information how to incorporate these wonderful natural remedies for yourself and family. You will learn how and why homeopathy is safe without harmful side effects of common drugs.

Important note: Disregard our hosting fee listed on the bulletin. We will be hosting this study group for donation only to help you thru this challenging time! You will still need to purchase the workbook, but you’ll want this for future reference anyway.

Nutritional / Herbal Support

Using Wellevate from Emerson Ecologics we are able to provide you direct access to our supplier for therapeutic grade vitamins, herbals, nutritionals, homeopathy at a 15% discounted price. This gives you access to items often only available thru practitioners, and at a discounted price. We make a small commission on each sale which helps us maintain our account and goes towards our office expenses (that are difficult to maintain during this shut down period).

There are a number of key vitamins and minerals that have been shown historically to support the immune system during viral threats. Vitamin C, vitamin D3, selenium, Vitamin A, magnesium, and Zinc, are super important for proper immune function. Without adequate levels we are tying one hand behind our back in terms of immune function at a time we need it the most.

Click the following link to see a list of vitamins I routinely rely on for my own immune support. These may be ordered thru our Wellevate supplier at discount (easy to order. see document below)

905 Abstracts with Vitamin C Research

The following article is directed more towards the health professional, but within it one may see the potential of adequate levels of vitamin c in supporting immune function.

The article contains slides and notes from an exclusive webinar delivered to healthcare professionals on March 25, 2020.  The central message in the presentation emphasized the oral form of ascorbic acid is a redox molecule that cannot be replaced by other antioxidants, perhaps even sodium ascorbate.  The combination of high-dose oral ascorbic acid together with intravenous sodium ascorbate could significantly reduce the exponential increase of COVID-19 patients who require intensive care treatment after infection.

This article also includes a newly released study that identified the exact mechanisms used by SARS-CoV2 to destroy hemoglobin, resulting in cell-free heme that exacerbates ARDS.

That’s it for right now. We hope you are all doing well and being safe. We will get thru this, together. You are important to us. Please feel free to drop us a email or text to let us know how you are doing or connect with us on our Tree of Life Center FaceBook page. Give us some feedback on the post we are sharing regarding health and healing.

TLC COVID19 Statement

TLC COVID19 Statement

I started writing a completely different post yesterday regarding new COVID19 policy at the Tree of life Center and how I planned to continue providing therapy with new protective measures. This has changed. After having in depth discussions within our family we have made the very difficult decision to suspend all appointments at our office until further notice in order to do our part in our community to help curb the rapid progression of the COVID19 virus. (please read below what we can continue to offer as support to you)

I with to express my sincere apology to my clients whom depend on massage therapy I provide. During my research of preventive measures for a office like ours it became apparent there is really no way to fully guarantee safety to our clients. With the infectious nature of the COVID19 virus there is no way to reliably screen clients with possible exposure, even if they have not traveled out of our immediate area or don’t have children traveling to and from college or attending school within our community. Interaction with suppliers, delivery personnel, mail and packages, currency, all are potential risk. And with the intimate work of massage therapy I don’t see any surefire way to guarantee safety to ourselves and our clients regardless of sanitation and screening efforts. So, we’ve decided now, before this hits our area in full force, is the time to do our part in preventing possible spread of this virus. We will remain available via internet to help our clients with educational guidance using homeopathic medicines and Sylvia’s  work with Reiki and Allergy Antidotes / Energy medicine. (see more below for access to a terrific free teleclearing for fear, stress, and anxiety, and supporting your body to defend against this virus).

Note; this is a fast evolving health crisis which has not appeared to affected Maine significantly at this time. However based on historical data on the COVID-19 progression in other states here in the US, we can most certainly expect this to affect the Maine population as well. According to disease experts at the CDC and elsewhere their goal is to blunt the spread of infection though they admit they do not expect to stop it. The main concern is to prevent our medical facilities from being overwhelmed with a sudden surge of patients.

The main characteristics of the COVID19 virus that raises concern for me is the unusual incubation period, how contagious this virus appears to be, and the apparent ability for asymptomatic people to be carrying and spread the virus without knowing it.

I won’t go into detail about the COVID-19 virus, but instead refer you to the Maine CDC web site:

Here are some significant aspects about this virus:

  • aprox 80% of the people infected with have mild or no symptoms. However they can still transmit the disease.
  • COVID-19 appears to be highly contagious
  • Young & healthy people seem to recover the easiest without complications and may present with minimal or no symptoms.
  • People over the age of 60, or people with asthma, copd, heart disease, diminished immune function, and kidney disease are at greatest risk for sever complications.
  • The key symptoms are fever and dry cough.
  • It generally does not significantly affect the upper respiratory system like a cold or typical flu, but instead affects the lower lungs.
  • Secondary complications such as pneumonia often follow with susceptible individuals and results in serious oxygen depletion and infection requiring medical intervention.
  • What makes this virus so difficult is its ability to quickly spread undetected. The incubation period can be anywhere from 3-5 day up to 14 days combined with the high level of contagion with people with little or not symptoms makes this a very serious threat.
  • The clinical spectrum of COVID-19 ranges from mild disease with non-specific signs and symptoms of acute respiratory illness, to severe pneumonia with respiratory failure and septic shock. There have also been reports of asymptomatic infection with COVID-19.  (Maine CDC)

Tree of Life Center. Our top priority is keeping you, ourselves, and our community safe from this virus. We also recognize the importance of our work in our community to provide compassionate therapeutic support for you, which is important during this time of such elevated stress and duress, but feel our decision will be the best for all involved.

Sylvia Tavares is a certified Allergy Antidotes™ practitioner and provides targeted energy healing sessions(available via Skype, Zoom, phone so you can remain in the safety and convenience of your home)

Energy healing therapy is needed now more than ever. Our energetic systems can be in overload, which effects everything that happens in our mind and body. Worry, fear, anxiety, stress, can lower our immune system function and render us more susceptible to this virus and everything else. Sylvia’s energy healing work is very effective at helping your mind/body have a appropriate response instead of internalizing the stress that may manifest in a myriad of symptoms such as stomach pain, headaches, insomnia, pain, etc.

Here is a awesome free energy teleclearing by Sandi Radomski (our founder and teacher of Allergy Antidotes™/Energy psychology). It takes less than ten minutes. You may access this as often as you need.

Homeopathy. I am not a homeopathic doctor, thus I cannot prescribe any homeopathic medicine or any herbal remedies. However, I have spent the last four years studying (and personally practicing homeopathy for myself and with our family, and have use homeopathy in our family for about 30 years). I have recently been on several webinars, and intently following articles, by several of the worlds foremost authorities on using homeopathy during disease epidemics. Thus, even though Myself and Sylvia are not homeopathic doctors, we continue to provide homeopathic education, helping you to know how to use homeopathy for yourself and family and pointing your towards the resources and education you need to make educated decisions. We will remain available via Skype, Zoom, and phone so you can remain in the safety and convenience of your home. We personally feel homeopathy offers significant support during times like this and has been clearly shown in historical data (because of FDA regulations we cannot say homeopathy prevents or cures any illness.)

CBD now available at Tree of Life Center for Wellbeing

CBD Hemp Medicinals from Wild Folk Farm are now available at the Tree of Life Center for Wellbeing and offered as a option during your massage.

I’ve been watching the progress of CBD Hemp in pain management and as natural support for healing injury, anxiety, inflammation, muscle tension/pain, and chronic health issues, for some time now. With the recent upsurge in public awareness and legalization across the US, suppliers of CBD have been abounding, bringing with it much confusion in regards to quality, processing and testing. I have spent the last several months looking at these issues as well as the different suppliers and their products. I’ve read articles and talked with other massage offices specifically regarding using CBD in a massage practice, effectiveness and client reviews, and became convinced CBD would be a helpful option to the therapy work I provide. It also provides  another option for my clients wishing natural pain relief instead of pharmaceuticals with thier many negative side effects.

Pharmaceutical pain relievers work by blocking pain messages to/from the brain, they do very little to help the body heal the injury or chronic pain. Whereas natural medicines, such as herbal and homeopathic, work with the bodys innate healing system to repair and rebuild, while at the same time helping with the pain and inflammation.

Why I Chose Wild Folk Farm CBD products

Wild Folk Farm CBD is full spectrum. Medicinal Hemp is much more than just CBD content. There are over 90 compounds in medicinal hemp beyond CBD and THC, a full spectrum of cannabinoids, fatty acids, terpenes, and other nutrients. It is this full spectrum of elements working in concert with sound growing and processing practices which enable the synergy that’s at the root of what can make CBD medicine a uncannily potent healing tool. (1)

Wild Folk Farm is 100% Maine grown and not tied to any corporate farm or business. They grow rice, hemp, vegetables and strawberries by implementing no-till permaculture and human power practices to ensure each plant gets the utmost care. Their hemp comes from some of the best genetics in the USA. Combined wit healthy soils and permaculture growing practices (MOFGA MC3 Certification) their plants have some of the highest CBD to THC (40:1) in the country. Their batches are third-party tested in Portland to ensure each batch meets their standards. Wild Folk Farm hemp is Maine State certified (MADCF) and tested below 0.3% THC.v. (1) (test reports:

Wild Folk hemp plants meet organic growing standards, however current USDA/DEA regulations do not permit organic certification of the crop. The Maine Organic Farmers’ and Gardeners’ Association(MOFGA) certifies Wild Folk Farm hemp with their Certified Clean Cannabinol (MC3) label, certifying organic cannabis growing practices. (1)

Nervine Adapotgen Alcohol Tinture

Stress Support

Blend herbal allies (MC3 CBD/Hemp, MOFGA certified Holy Basil, Lemon Balm, and Milky Oat). organic glycerin to amplify and sweeten the flavorful, terpine rich bouquet of herbal flavors. In combination provide support for three bodily systems which are crucial to interanl physiological/hormonal balance.

CBD/Hemp provides support to the endocannabinoid system which is responsible for choreographing the functions of nearly all processin in our bodies. Oat and Lemon Balm both act on the nervous system, supporting and nourishing the nervous systems work o f maintaining a calm and relaxed state. Tulsi, aka Holy Basil, which is classified as a “Adaptogen”. Adaptogens are a class of herbs which help regulate processes in the body by acting on the endocrine system, rather than performing a uniform “one size fits all” action, adaptogens instead support the action needed to address the specific circumstances called for to maintain hormonal balance hence the root of the word “adapt”. (1)

CBD, THC, and the Endocannabinoid System

In the 1990’s, scientists discovered endocannabinoids, the natural cannabis-like molecules produced by the human body. Scientists began to realize cannabis exerted its effects, in part, by mimicking our endocannabinoids. It appears the main function of the endocannabinoid system is to maintain bodily homeostasis—biological harmony in response to changes in the environment.Taxonomic investigation revealed that the endocannabinoid system is incredibly old, having evolved over 500 million years ago. Moreover, it is present in all vertebrates—mammals, bird, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc, all produce endocannabinoids!10

Research initially suggested endocannabinoid receptors were only present in the brain and nerves, but scientists later found that the receptors are present throughout the body, including our skin, immune cells, bone, fat tissue, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, heart, blood vessels, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract.11 We now know the endocannabinoid system is involved in a wide variety of processes, including pain, memory, mood, appetite, stress, sleep, metabolism, immune function, and reproductive function.12,13 Endocannabinoids are arguably one of the most widespread and versatile signaling molecules known to man. Clearly the body uses both CBD and THC receptors, however CBD has many of the benefits for pain and healing, and since CBD itself is non_psychogenec (does not produce a “high”), and since it CBD does not require a medical card and is legal most everywhere, it is the choice of many.

Many producers extract and manufacture CBD only, however since our body has receptors for many types of CBD, including THC, and since a product high in CBD with minimal THC is still legal most everywhere, and since we are still in the early stages of understanding how these work in the body, the choice of many is a full spectrum product that includes both but is in a high ratio of CBD:THC.
